Well-Being- WOW message of the week

February 20, 2023 Janette Stuart

Welcome to the WOW Card of the Week series. A new card will be featured every week for you to think about, mull over, and maybe change something to fill your life with well-being and wonder.

Your Words of Wisdom (WOW) Guidance Card of the Week Feb. 19, 2023 - Feb. 26, 2023, is here!

Your Words of Wisdom (WOW) Guidance Card of the week for Living Life Better.

WELL-BEING

What is one thing to make your life better?

Definition: the state of being comfortable, healthy, or happy
Other: in good health, security, prosperity, happiness
Opposite: unhappiness, dissatisfaction, misery

Well-being can encompass many areas of your life:
-Physical
-Economic
-Social
-Emotional
-Psychological

Well-being is associated with longevity, healthy behaviors, mental and physical health, social connectedness, productivity, better immune functioning with speedier recovery and more.

Sometimes it's good to evaluate your life and well-being.
What is working?
What can I let go of?
What do my daily habits bring to my level of well-being?
How do you want to feel?

For the last few weeks, I have chosen to concentrate on physical health by tweaking and hacking sleep hygiene. It is a slow process to figure out what will work and what does not.

Well-being is a journey and a destination.

HOW CAN WELL-BEING BE IMPROVED?

Accept your emotions.
Live in the NOW.
Listen to your intuition.
Silence.
Laughter.
Practice gratitude.
Get inspired.
Meditate.
Breath work.
Connect.
Be active.
Keep learning.
Give.
ETC……..

Choosing to live life better will increase your level of well-being.
What is one area of your life that needs a boost of well-being?

I see this day as a positive, new beginning.
-Abraham

Forgiveness- WOW message of the week

February 12, 2023 Janette Stuart

Welcome to the WOW Card of the Week series. A new card will be featured every week for you to think about, mull over, and maybe change something to fill your life with well-being and wonder.

Your Words of Wisdom (WOW) Guidance Card of the Week Feb. 12, 2023 thru Feb. 18, 2023, is here!

Forgiveness Definition: Pardon, release, cancel, excuse

Other: Absolution, amnesty, condone, grace

Opposite: Resentment, punishment, blame, bitterness

Why should I Forgive?
Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself. It is releasing a heavy burden that you no longer want to lug around. It is a lightening of spirit, an ultimate act of self-care which leaves the past where it belongs: in the past. Forgiveness leads to peace.

It is not condoning the act if you have been wronged by another. You can forgive someone, and they need not ever know about it.

You can forgive yourself also for what you have done or even for what you wished you would have done.

How do I forgive? Here are a couple of ways.
You can bravely ask another for forgiveness. There is a beautiful Hawaiian prayer called the Ho’oponopono. Do you know it?

What is the Ho'oponopono?

The Ho'oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian prayer used for healing, forgiveness, transformation, inner-peace and self-love. It is only four lines long:

I'm am sorry
Please forgive me
I love you
Thank you

Can you imagine the feeling of someone saying the Ho’oponopono to you? Can you imagine the feeling if you said this to another person?

Another way to forgive someone is to write this person a letter (do NOT, I repeat do not give this letter to them.) Write this letter out by hand, using whatever language, rage, anger, frustration…you feel about the situation. Let the emotions come, let them all out. You are releasing it, surrendering it, healing it.

When you have completed this letter, have a brief ceremony of release and say something like, “I release this occurrence now and forever more into the arms of The Divine to transmute and I ask for peace” then burn your letter if you can safely do so or shred it and get it out of your house, do not leave this letter in your home. You will feel a physical and emotional release. Let this go.

When you think about this situation again, lovingly remind yourself you have released it into the arms of the Creator, and you need not carry the burden forward.

Is there forgiveness that needs to occur in order for you to live life better?

Becky and Janette

Intention- WOW message of the week

February 5, 2023 Janette Stuart

Welcome to the WOW Card of the Week series. A new card will be featured every week for you to think about, mull over and maybe change something to fill your life with well-being and wonder.

Your Words of Wisdom (WOW) Guidance Card of the Week Feb. 5, 2023 thru Feb. 11, 2023, is here!

Your Words of Wisdom (WOW) Guidance Card of the week for Living Life Better.

INTENTION

I say what I mean to do.
I choose to commit.

Definition: an aim or plan, determined to do, intended action

Other: desire, aspiration, preplanning

Opposite: directionless, unimportant, hindrance

An important time of your day begins with setting intentions. This practice honors the desire, dreams and hopes you have for yourself. Addressing these daily keeps you accountable and on track.

After making an intention does everything go smoothly as you planned? Are we able to control how our day will go? No. But we can decide how to approach anything that comes our way.

One of the intentions I often have in my life is TODAY I INTEND TO SEE THE SILVER LINING OF EVERY SITUATION. Some days are a disappointing reality of things not working out and some days are magical. Living with intention puts you in the driver’s seat by giving you the power to create how the day will affect you.

Decide first thing in the morning what you want your day to feel like. Align with your goals and dreams and maybe even a little from the to-do list also. Figure out the step needed to do the next right thing. Take a breath. Visualize your end of the day recap. Now set your intention.

Every day we can choose to commit to doing what we say we will do.

Becky and Janette

Adapt - WOW message of the week

January 29, 2023 Janette Stuart

Welcome to the WOW Card of the Week series. A new card will be featured every week for you to think about, mull over and maybe change something to make your life filled with well-being and wonder.

Your Words of Wisdom (WOW) Guidance Card of the Week Jan. 29 - Feb. 4, 2023 is here!

Adapt Definition: Modify, change, adjust, improve
Other: Flexible, resilient, accommodate, compromise
Opposite: Clash, resistant, fail

How do you Adapt?

As humans we are often resistant to change. We like things that are predictable and familiar. We like ease and comfort.

The world throws us many curveballs during the course of our days: things that seems out of our control. These curveballs necessitate change.

How we respond to change is a choice. We can react and resist the change, or we can respond and adjust to new requirements, conditions or scenarios.

Our power is in our response. If we react, we are giving our power away to another person or circumstance. We are letting the change overpower us. It is a low energy reaction and can look like excuses or blame.

If we take a breath and respond, we are improvising and adapting to the change using our personal power. This empowered decision or response is a higher energy choice and looks like adjusting our attitude to find the good, looking for the lesson or silver lining to the situation.

Think back on a situation which at the time seemed like the end of the world as you knew it and in reality, it brought about a blessing. You probably can think of plenty of those occurrences.

Here are a few examples: a broken relationship, a loss of job, not getting into the school, job or housing you wanted.

Follow the prompt on the card.
Make a list of ways you have adapted to change.
Make a list of ways you have resisted change.

Example:

Ways I Adapt

Accept my diagnosis and focus on healing
See the beauty in my neighborhood
Choosing life enriching foods

Ways I Resist Adapting

Spending my precious life force energy on asking why or how something occurred
Focusing on garbage in the street or unkempt houses…
Eating foods that taste good when I want to eat more veggies

After making these lists and thinking about what was a priority, I made this intention:

Today, I choose to adapt and make wise shopping and eating choices. These smart choices aid in my desire to live a long, healthy and vibrant life.

How can you adapt to living life better?

Focus - WOW message of the week

January 22, 2023 Janette Stuart

Welcome to the WOW Card of the Week series. A new card will be featured every week for you to think about, mull over and maybe change something to make your life filled with well-being and wonder.

Welcome to our WOW Card of the Week - FOCUS
FOCUS

Definition: Pay particular attention to, able to see clearly, center of interest or activity
Other: priority, concentration, attention, concern, emphasis
Opposite: fuzzy, lack of definition, nebulous

The beginning of a new year is when many people set goals, make resolutions and start over. They choose a particular area of life to pay attention and concentrate on to keep these promises.

There are tips, tricks and how to’s available to help us adjust attitudes to figure out what is important to focus on.

One way of understanding what I need and want to see clearly in my life is a vision board. Cut out words and images from magazines and glue onto cardboard. It helps to zero in with your focal point that then becomes the focus.

A pro/con list works when you are contemplating your life, making choices and decisions. You write the positive and negative reasons, facts and feelings and it often can bring a solution quickly.

Example I am thinking about today:

Kelly moved to her own apartment recently which leaves me living alone in a gigantic home. I am trying to decide If I should sell our home after 21 years.

PROS of selling house….
- Lived here a long time, many memories.
- Smaller space to clean.
- Too much upkeep for house including pool and lawn.
- Too big for just me, does not fit my energy anymore.
- Sadie and the stairs.

CONS of selling house…
- Lived here a long time, many memories.
- Lots of work to declutter.
- Garage is full of Dennis’s stuff, hard to sort.
- Cost more $$$$$ to live in a smaller place.
- Figure out WHERE to live.
- Rent or Buy?
- Timing?
- Recently replaced Heater, A/C, water heater, toilets, pool pump and sweep.
- Easier to stay and not change.
- Have to figure it all out.

Even though there are more cons than pros, the weight of the pros win. The focus I used helped me realize that it is time to start the process of selling the house.

Other ways to focus are to use meditation, quiet time, rules of what has to be accomplished before doing something else, ask for help, and no phone or social media. Concentration can help me know what I need to do.

Focus can help you deliberately live life better.
How can you use focus in living life better?

Wish - WOW message of the week

January 15, 2023 Janette Stuart

Welcome to the WOW Card of the Week series. A new card will be featured every week for you to think about, mull over and maybe change something to make your life filled with well-being and wonder.

Welcome to our WOW Card of the Week - WISH

Wish Definition: To want or desire, to express a hope or choice for a specific thing.

Other: Yearning, request, dream, manifest

Opposite: Curse, dislike, begrudge

How do you CREATE a wish?
As children we are taught to make a wish as we blow out our birthday candle.

We also may have been taught to make a wish and throw a coin in a fountain.

Perhaps, you even wished upon a star…

The important part of a wish in the conjuring up of a desire deep within and making it known to yourself or others. It’s bringing a desire into your awareness.

A wish is like magic. A wish is hope for something better. Once you know what it is you desire or wish, you can focus on making that wish a reality.

Follow the prompt on the card.

Make a list of things you wish for right now.
Make a list of things you wish for in the future.
Make a list of things you wish for others or the world.

Example:

My Current Wishes
Vibrant Health
Celebrate Every Day
Prosperity

My Future Wishes
Vibrant Health
A Long and Joyous Life
Learning a new skill

Wishes for Others or the World
Peace
Feeling of “Enoughness” for all
Joy

After making these lists and thinking about what was a priority, I made this intention:

Today, I choose to celebrate my health and vitality. This is my wish and my desire.

Think about wishes and what they mean to you.

How can you use wishing for living life better?

Clarity - WOW message of the week

January 9, 2023 Janette Stuart

Welcome to the WOW Card of the Week series. A new card will be featured every week for you to think about, mull over and maybe change something to make your life filled with well-being and wonder.

CLARITY

Definition: Being easy to see or hear, certain or definitive

Other: Clear, lucid, sharp

Opposite: Vague, blurry, murky, obscure, confusion

How do you FEEL clarity?
Is it in your body, like a gut feeling?
Is it a knowing, just there?
Can you see the answer in sharp focus?
Or hear the solution, loud and clear?

Follow the prompt on the card.
Make a list of what you need more of in your life.
Then make a list of what you need less of.
You might be surprised at how they intersect and then understand what needs to be done.

Example I am thinking about today:

I NEED MORE
Movement
Time Outside
Sleep

I NEED LESS
Computer/Social Media
Sugar/“Wild” Eating
Conflict in Family

After making both lists and thinking about the priority, I made this intention:

I will set a timer for every hour and get up from my computer to go outside and move my body.

Think about clarity and what it means to you.
How can you use clarity for living life better?

Find the Good,

Becky and Janette
